The Czech Heritage Partnership and the Foreign Ministry of the Czech Republic are proud to join forces and present the 20 member choir CAMERA CHABRA in Protivin, Iowa during the choir’s 2011 tour and visit to the United States. CAMERA CHABRA was founded in 2005 by and has as its coordinator PhDr. Vera Dousova. The choir’s conductor is Professor Lubomír Mátl, professor at the Academy of music in Prague and in Brno, chief conductor of the Rossini festival in Pesar, the Opera festival in Dublin, and other important world festivals. The choir participates in many music festivals through-out Europe each year.

Since the inception of the choir, it has been enthusiastically supported by the Foreign Ministry of the Czech Republic not only because the choir performs widely in their Czech homeland, but also due to the fact that they visit compatriots living abroad and the choir continues to refresh and teach them the Czech national songs. The main goal of the choir is to preserve the language and folk culture of their ancestors.

The repertoire
of the choir Camera Chabra consists of Czech national songs as well as
classical and spiritual music such as: Biblical Songs by Antonín Dvořák, J. F. Handel:
Canticorum; Franz Kraft: Benedicamus Domino; Mokranijac: You praise Boga; Leoš Janáček: Hukvaldy song Zy Hukvaldy churches, the Lord God will pay, The Nature-cycle by Antonín Dvořák and Moravian Duets by Antonín Dvořák; Arcadelt: Ave Maria; B.
